Who We Are
We are an inter-denominational ministry located in Hampton, Virginia placing chaplains and volunteers in 22 Correctional Facilities in S.E. Virginia. God has blessed SCM for more than 30 years with men and women who respond to the call of God to work with the incarcerated. Our Mission is to "Set the captives spiritually free through the Gospel of Jesus Christ". We are incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a non-profit, faith based organization. SCM provides uniform yet flexible programs in the 22 facilities it serves. A devoted Board of Directors governs SCM and a Senior Chaplain, who is elected by the Board for a four-year term, administers its programs.

Our History
The ministry began in July 1981 with two persons conducting a Bible study for inmates at Nansemond Correctional Unit. It has since expanded to 22 institutions with over 150 volunteers serving as Chaplains, Bible teachers, counselors, course graders, literature distributors, audio/visual operators, and musicians.
