our Statement of faith
Southeastern Correctional Ministry (SCM) has adopted the following statement of faith. It is not meant to be all-inclusive. Rather, it is a basic: statement of Christian tenets, which cross the nondenominational spectrum.
1. We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments were given by inspiration of God and that they only constitute the Divine rule of the Christian faith and practice. II Timothy 3:16
2. We believe there is only one God who is infinitely perfect, the Creator, Preserver and Governor of all things and who is the only proper object of religious worship. I Timothy 2:5, Colossians 1:16
3. We believe in one God eternally existing in three persons; The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, undivided in essence and co-equal in power and glory. Matthew 28:19, 1 John 5:7
4. We believe Jesus Christ to be the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. That Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead. That He ascended to Heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor. 1 Corinthians 15:3-5, Romans 8:34
5. We believe all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all and is necessary for forgiveness of sin. Romans 3:23
6. We believe repentance toward God, faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, and that regeneration by the Holy Spirit are necessary to salvation. Titus 3:5
7. We believe we are justified by grace through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, and holiness to be God’s standard of living for His people. Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 12:1
8. We believe secret organizations compromise the faith and are prohibited. Mark 4:22, John 7:4
9. We believe in the immortality of the soul, in the resurrection of the body, in the general judgment at the end of the world, in the eternal happiness of the righteous and the endless punishment of the wicked. John 3:36
